Fathom Science has been selected as a finalist for the NC TECH Awards in the industry-driven Clean Tech/ Green Tech category. The NC Tech Awards is North Carolina’s only statewide technology awards program that recognizes innovation, growth and leadership in the tech sector and is presented by the NC TECH (North Carolina Technology Association).

Fathom is proud and honored to be recognized as a North Carolina tech company that is making a difference in enabling scientists, policy makers, and society to make more informed decisions about the environment and climate.

Fathom Science’s goal is to use our operational numerical modeling software and its data to improve environmental and human safety and to reduce hazard damage by providing better information on all facets of the marine environment. Fathom’s marine environment intelligence can assist development of clean offshore wind and marine hydrokinetic energy; reduce fossil fuel use by improving navigational and resource extraction efficiency in sectors that currently use it (ship routing, fishing); increase safety for humans and the environment through water quality monitoring, harmful algal bloom prediction, and coastal hazard prediction; promote sustainability for marine life by improved marine protected area planning; and increase human safety by improved hurricane and strong current forecasting, including better forecasting of Loop Current activity that can impact oil and gas rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

“For over 20 years, NC TECH has celebrated companies, organizations and individuals for outstanding achievement at the NC TECH Awards. As a finalist this year, Fathom Science has distinguished itself as one of the state’s innovative and emergent leaders.” — Brooks Raiford, NC TECH’s President and CEO.
